guess I just like the tension that gets created in me when I hang around people with opposing worldviews.
I loved this comment. I think it strongly touches on what we are trying to accomplish at Off the Map, and also on something we’re going to have to live into if we ever really want to MTWABP (make the world a better place)
What about you–do you like that tension? Do you lean into it, or away from it? Why? How? your comments? tell us a story, if you like =)

I’m working on a project right now for a christian publisher whose views I don’t always see eye to eye with. Today was a REALLY rough day. I might get fired for things I said (like using the word “damn” in a rather harsh conversation :-) Did I expect or want this to happen this morning when I woke up? Hell, no. But it did. And here in about a week I’ll be talking about how much I enjoy that tension. No, I don’t enjoy it, but I feel it makes me (and hopefully the people around me) a better person in the end. Call be a masochist.

I read the opinion/letters section of some newspaper yesterday, and the b*llsh*t out there i find really depressing. i know they think that i’m the one who’s full of it, but that just makes me feel thoroughly overwhelmed and insignificant. the crap that’s out there, things are not going to change much. ever.

When they don’t I find it very invalidating and frustrating.
Craig I hope the person you had the harsh conversation with doesn’t fire you.

Seren, Craig,
I hear you. I totally find it super frustrating sometimes. My ideal self wants to remain open to people with opposing worldviews. But my *actual* self isn’t always so good at it. As the 12 steppers say: “Progress not perfection” =)
