Benjamin,
Thanks for letting us know about this series. It’s FANTASTIC!
I watched all 7 segments; most are about 2 minutes long. I’d suggest Chapter 5: Consumption as the single best one to watch, for anyone who’s interested but doesn’t have time to watch all of them (but #5 is 6 minutes long, sorry!).
It doesn’t contain alot of statistics. The most striking bit of data, for me, was in Chapter #6 (Disposal, or something like that)…that for every 1 lb we throw out as garbage at home, there were 70 lbs of garbage created “upstream” in the production of the stuff we threw away. Amazing.
This series needs to be shown in schools! On television! In between ads!! To the people, and to our elected officials!!!
Wow–you’re a convert! Mabye you and me should both write to … say, Jim McDermott (who seems to be rather responsive) and ask him to watch it, and see what he says.
good god–70 lbs for every pound? Now I’m thinking about the … what is it … 30 pounds? of garbage I throw out every week from my house, and … 210 pounds more upstream.
