Today I was in that church of Consumption commonly known as “The Mall” here in the U.S. It’s always a somewhat traumatic experience, watching all the Americans participate in the worship. I’m not *totally* clear on why I find it so distressing, but it is what it is. It’s July 2, which means there are only approximately 176 shopping days left until that annual pinnacle of the church’s year commonly referred to as “Christmas”. Last year for the first time ever I published a Christmas wish list. Here’s my wish list for this Christmas.
(I left one blank in case I think of something else)
What do you want for Christmas?

OK, I lied, I’ve got more than one wish. I want the Golden Rule applied to all human behaviour.

The problem is that the chocolate ice cream provides such relatively short lived relief. In fact I think I read somewhere that some huge percentage of the enjoyment of a serving of chocolate ice cream is in the first bite. Maybe the thing to do is just take one bite, 6 or 8 times a day, or something.
Joe, as always, you rock. I had no idea it could be done that fast. Thank you.

I’m up with the golden rule thing. That would be awesome.
A panacea might be a bit much. We must surely still have at least a *little* suffering? Remember the story about what happened to the first matrix in the Wachowski brothers’ brilliant movie

Welcome to JaC–glad to have you along! =) I would totally add an end to the occupation of palestine–that’s a great wish.

I’m also hoping to get a gift for some of the people I’ve met - perseverance for those in trouble, imagination for those without hope, realisation for those living in darkness. In fact, I’d pretty much like the whole Sermon on the Mount, please Santa.
